- Description
- Three members of our team met on August 17 at a local pub for dinner in an old renovated stone schoolhouse, called the Cheshire Cat, after a busy day for all. We relaxed into our chairs in a noisy room, and saw a couple of women who really looked perfect for our quest. However, just before our fourth member had arrived, they got up and left! There were 6 other full tables, but 2 had very focused looking high-tech guys having a dinner meeting, three had young families with small (sweet but whiny) children, and the last was a young couple that obviously did NOT want to be interrupted.
We had drinks, ordered and had lovely dinners, and caught up with each other’s lives. It really was a great evening! But people were leaving, and no new patrons arrived.
So we explained all to our helpful server, who had managed so well in the noisy room. We couldn’t buy her a beverage, but she now had some time to share with us. We discussed the scavenger hunt and the WI’s 125th anniversary, and described our involvement with the local food bank. She was interested in our description of our WI and its local efforts, and happily accepted the WI bookmark. We will contact her again soon!
