Description
How do we get the most ‘bang for our buck/bookmark’? That was our consideration and strategy when we started planning how our team would complete WISH Clue #4. We needed to delay our outing until everyone had returned from holidays at cottages and a European excursion. Thus we planned to visit a local farm market and enjoy their hot cider in early September during apple harvest. Of course we didn’t factor in the delay caused by rain and a positive COVID test for one member.
With time running out team members were finally able to gather together. It was a crisp but sunny autumn day when we journeyed to the orchard and farm market. We lined up to purchase our cups of hot apple cider and invited another customer to join us. After we explained our mission giving some history of WI and the scavenger hunt, Cheryl agreed to accept a cup of cider and the bookmark and to join us for a picture. A staff member kindly used one of our phones to take pictures. Thinking we had fulfilled all requirements, we sat together enjoying the hot cider along with a package of complimentary freshly baked cookies.
It wasn’t until after Cheryl had left and our hands were free that thoughts turned to checking the pictures in order to choose the best one. Alas, we had wonderful pictures of a thumb! We decided to have another picture taken of our team standing in front of the same display but we no longer had Cheryl with her bookmark or our cups of cider. Pictured are Audrey Carter, Bernice Draper, Jean Hawley and Evelyn Peck.
Although we were lacking the verifying photo, we had tried to fulfill each requirement of WISH clue#4. Most importantly we had supported a local farmer and we had fun!
Qué sera, sera! What will be, will be!
