Paying It Forward Really Works

Our August 2022 clue #4 was “An Act of Kindness Finds Friendship and Membership”. This is an excellent way to invite others to our meetings. Lois Blyth says kindness can inspire others - it will bring happiness, hope and gratitude.

It feels good to do good, so it helps us feel better if we help someone. It keeps us focused on the positive. There are many ways we can provide hope for the future and these opportunities give us a more hopeful and optimistic view for the future.

Paying for a coffee for someone behind us doesn't cost much and puts a smile on the recipient's face. In this case, it also gave us an opportunity to visit with the recipient, explain about Women's Institute and ask if they would like a WI Bookmark. The Jean Brumpton W.I. Branch is quite small but we support the Royal Canadian Legion, Varnavair Branch 153 in Tillsonburg to help them organize the Tillsonburg Cemetery Annual Decoration Day Service. Many of our former W.I. Members are buried in the Tillsonburg Cemetery. Since our Branch has joint meetings with Mount Elgin W.I., we also try to support their projects as well.

Our “Tippy Toe Tigers” team chose Ilene Chesterman to pay for Judie Atkinson's beverage at Tim Horton's and Judie graciously agreed to receive the W.I. Bookmark, find out more about W.I. and be included in our photo.

“Paying It Forward” gives us faith that the world can be a better place if we work to make it that way. We thank the WI Scavenger Hunt committee for giving us the opportunity to “Play and Pay It Forward”. An anonymous quote is “Kindness is a gift everyone can afford to give”. We should be kind, be fair, be honest, be true and all these things will come back to you.
