Our group Dispsy Doodler's has chosen for “An Act of Kindness Finds Friendship and Membership” the following:
We met at a local restaurant for coffee and met with an individual who when asked joined us for coffee which we would pay on her behalf. She kindly agreed to sit down with us.
When we were seated we told her the purpose of our meeting. That we were participating in a province wide WI scavenger hunt.
Our team leader DP presented her with the WI bookmark and explained to her what WI members do for our community. We told her what our big project is at present. Our members are involved in our local fair by offering a WI tea room for one day at which each member contributes at least three to four dozen cookies, squares, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. We display our WI motto and post the many activities which we participate in within our local communities.
At present our top priority is raising funds toward building a much needed new Nursing Home in a nearby town which will serve many communities in our area. Our WI group is hoping to make another generous donation for this much need facility with funds we raise at our WI tea room.
The attached photo includes team leader DP offering WI bookmark to LC our guest. Also included in team photo are DP next to our team leader.. On other side of table are members JP and HH. Our guest was very impressed by work that we do and our commitment to WI.
