- We decided to meet at a really neat little café and shop in Cookstown called “The Mad Hatter's Table”. It was recently opened by a local woman. We wore top hats for fun to match the theme of the café. The owner was interested in the WI and was intrigued with our plan. When we entered the café, there were a couple of women already having coffee together who engaged in conversation with us. We told them about the scavenger hunt, and about our most recent community lunch at the Newton Robinson Hall. Both women had stories to share about their own mothers' membership in another local WI. One of the women had previously been a member of a local branch. They liked the bookmark and were interested our WI efforts. One of the two agreed to be in our staged photo and the other agreed to take our photo. We hope to also have created good publicity for the café.
