We Rock!

After reading Clue #3 we all found our own rock and gathered together to paint the rocks with flowers and embellish them with an embroidered bee to carry out our theme of "Bees and Flowers".
Margaret hid her stone in Julie's flowerbed. "Bee my rock" describes Julie to a T! Once discovered, Margaret wrote this to her 7 and 10 year old great nephews: I put it there for your Mom because she is the rock for you boys and your Dad. You all go to her for everything and she makes things better, she comforts you, she finds things for you, she is everything a Mom should be along with working fulltime, helping in the barn and doing fieldwork when required. She's the rock in her family.

Nancy delivered her rock gift to her son last week. He has a small “farm” in New Brunswick. Along with his ducks and chickens he also has a bee hive. It is wonderful to see how kind he is with his animals, the gentleness with which he handles his animals. She watched him unbox his new bee hive with such care and slow deliberate movements. He shows care and kindness in his care of animals and creatures but also in his paying job as a porter at the local hospital. He will tell you that his job is first and foremost to talk to the patients and make them comfortable as they face whatever tests and treatments they are there to receive. He really doesn’t need the reminder to “Bee Kind” but for the guests entering his home it is a good reminder that kindness lives there.

Like many others, Ruth missed seeing her great grandson during the pandemic closures. She really appreciated seeing pictures of his smiles sent to us by his mother and grandmother. So in appreciation, I hid the decorated rock in his favourite toy truck to see more smiles as he found the rock and placed it in a flower pot at their home. There is nothing as cheering as a smiling four year old!

Mary enjoyed painting a lovely flower and adding a buzzy bee for the summertime theme of rock painting chosen by the group. Keeping with the friendship theme, Mary was grateful to Nancy for sharing painting supplies for this group project and Margaret for her cute bees. Mary is going to hide her rock in her mom's flowerbed which she knows will delight her when she finds it. It will be a pleasant surprise when she is pulling weeds and discovers this gift. As a result of this project, Mary plans to decorate additional rocks to share with friends.
