Rock Painting is Fun!

Why would one want to paint rocks you ask? Well it gives one a chance to be creative and to decorate their surroundings or garden in a unique way. So, let's get started. Do some research on the internet to find what appeals to you and how you could display your finished product. Of course you'll need to find some paintbrushes, paint, and a way to seal your creation so it will last in the outdoors. C

Once you've decided on a topic or theme for your rocks, it's time to go hunting for the right sizes and shapes. Don't worry, rocks are everywhere – the roadside, beach, in fields or maybe even at your own home and yard. Once you have a few, make sure to wash or clean them so the paint will stick. Remember you can make flowers, rock pumpkins for Hallowe'en, birds and butterflies for your garden, bees, ladybugs and insects to adorn your flowerbeds or even games like tic tac toe. The choice is yours. Once you get started you'll come up with lots of ideas. The Tippy Toe Tigers chose “Gardens” for our theme.

Next you will need a safe place to do the painting. It's best to have newspaper or plastic over the table you will be working on – even if it's outside. Line your clean rocks up on the work surface and the fun begins as you create your work of art. Don't forget to wear older clothes so you don't ruin nice clothing. Accidents sometimes happen and a few splatters might occur.

Once your creations are finished, let the paint dry and seal your rocks so the paint won't fade or wash off in a rainstorm. Be proud of your efforts! Good for you – you've created a one of a kind decoration for your living area.

Our team is very happy to surprise the following people to receive our painted rocks: On the left in our photo is Nancy who will give her flower rock to her fiance Gerald. To the right of Nancy is Ilene who will give her sunflower rock to her husband Milt. Kate is next in the photo and she will give her sparkly rock to her son Zack who was in school the day the picture was taken. On the right is Nikki who will give her bumblebee rock to her Dad Lawrence. The rainbow rock on the concrete block with our mascot tiger was painted by Zack and he will give his rock to his sister Mackenzie who is sitting in front of our team.
