Keeping Connected- One lego piece at a Time

To say Covid is hard, is a bit of an understatement. Although, as detrimental as it was (and still is) it challenged us on our ability to solve problems creatively and how to stay connected. The Women’s Institute promotes inclusive and supportive social networking for community action and personal growth and has always been a pillar of support and understanding in the community. Exactly what everyone needed during these tough times. Our picture shows us reaching out through different forms of media to a community. Thank you covid for making video calling accessible and normalized. Our one member could not be physically present due to covid exposure so this picture is a perfect example on how we can stay connected while still being fully inclusive. It opens a door for more participation. When we were asked to build something that our team feels represents The Women’s Institute we couldn’t choose one thing, because Women’s institute is community, period. Thus, we built a lego community. A community that we support and supports us. A community that follows our vision to create safe healthy connections. It stands for everything community, it supports everything community, we come together as a community. Connection over these years has been so important and it goes right back to our roots in our organizational structure where it was said that the branch is the basic building block in which the organization has grown since 1897. Each block we built represents our past and how far we have come. Lego is meant to be strong, solid, and together. When we all come together a community we are ALL of those things and more.
