Following a few snowy and slippery days of bad weather this February, and changing COVID restrictions, our Woodland Treasure Hunters team was finally able to meet in person, at the Archives building to document our treasure find!

The plaque for the Gleneden Women's Institute is 19 inches round in diameter, and looks to be wood, cream background, with black hand painted lettering and colourful flowers, banded with WI colours of blue and gold, and the slogan “For Home and Country”. The plaque currently resides within the collection of the Museum and Archives, located at 102 Main Street South, downtown Mount Forest, Ontario.

The Gleneden WI was unfortunately dissolved in 1997, and the remaining members were invited to join the Woodland Springs WI chapter. According to records, one member accepted.

Previously, before the donation of the plaque to the Archives, the plaque resided in the possession of Betty Hall, a very active member of the Gleneden WI, and was donated by her daughter, Yvonne Stewart, after Betty's passing in 2011.

Our visit to the Archives was a lot fun, and we met some wonderful volunteers working there. Our group has already tentatively made plans to return and tour the remaining exhibits – supporting our curious Treasure Seekers appetites!! Looking forward to Clue #2!!
