Description
This cairn and parkette were created by Kemble WI, the oldest active WI Branch in the world, to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the WI movement. It was erected in a newly developed parkette/lookout and opened on September 11, 2007.
The cairn was designed by Marnie Cheyne. The table is made of marble and is set for a tea break, perfect for pondering, socializing, and business. Many a visitor sits on the bronze chair to enjoy the panoramic view of the surrounding farmlands and Georgian Bay. A flowering crab apple tree was also planted in memory of the pioneer and previous members of Kemble Branch.
There are 2 bronze plaques attached to the side of the table; one lists the 14 founding members, while the other provides the history of the founding of the branch with its founder, Clara Gardner.
