- Description
- This cairn and parkette were created by Kemble WI, the oldest active WI Branch in the world, to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the WI movement. It was erected in a newly developed parkette/lookout and opened on September 11, 2007.
The cairn was designed by Marnie Cheyne. The table is made of marble and is set for a tea break, perfect for pondering, socializing, and business. Many a visitor sits on the bronze chair to enjoy the panoramic view of the surrounding farmlands and Georgian Bay. A flowering crab apple tree was also planted in memory of the pioneer and previous members of Kemble Branch.
There are 2 bronze plaques attached to the side of the table; one lists the 14 founding members, while the other provides the history of the founding of the branch with its founder, Clara Gardner. - Notes
