What famous man once said, The young, I hope. will never know Old soldiers never die? ' The horrors I have seen, Who was the man that said, And I pray to God, they'll never go Brave men never ery? To the Hell where I have been. For I am old, a soldier too, Every November, I remember still, And many times I've died, How I glorified the war, I am brave, a man as well, Then only to find death and pain And many times I've cried. In the eyes of the homeless and poor. So many years have flown by, An old soldier I may be, Since I was a fighting soldier, But I've learned from being so, But the memories haunt me still, That war is Hell on earth, And grow more painful as I grow older. A Hell I hope you’ll never know. L.B. November /87 . [
