It takes an average of three months of hard work to prepare a show calf for upcoming . fairs, including waking up before sunrise to feed and groom the calf and train it to walk on a halter, then feed it again the the end of the day. Show season starts in June and goes through until October. In November the members, ages nine to 21 years, hope to represent the Northumberland 4H Beaf Club at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto.
