Peacefully at home, with his family, on Saturday, April 21, 2007, Jack James of Russell, 57. Loving husband of Lois (Hunter). Beloved father, best friend and coach of Shanna and Jenna. Son of George and Bernadette ofLanark. Brother of Terry (Joyce) of Leduc, Alberta, Dwight (Colleen), of Lanark, David (Mary) of Lanark, and Cheryl (Bruce Hill) ofNepean. Will be remembered by extended family, friends and those in the Agricultural community. Jack was a widely respected agricultural leader, a prominent sheep breeder, a strong community supporter and a devoted father, husband, son and brother, Raised on a family farm in Lanark, he attended the University of Guelph, where he earned a degree in Agricultural Science in 1972 and was the student president of the Ontario Agricultural College the same year. During his lifelong career in agriculture, he held positions with the Canadian 4--H Council, the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food and most recently with Jim Lewis, Agri-Nutrition. He also farmed full time for a number of years and developed one of Canada's top Polled Dorset Sheep flocks. Jack's outstanding leadership skills were recognized by virtually every organization he joined. He was the former president of the Canadian Livestock Records Assoc. the Canada Sheep Breeders Assoc. Purebred Sheep Breeders of Ontario, the Ontario Sheep Marketing Agency, the Carleton 4-H Assoc. and the Russell Lions Club, He was a respected judge at local, regional and national sheep shows. He devoted countless hours to youth both as a 4-H leader and a broomball coach, He leaves his family and many friends across Canada a legacy ofhard work, fair play, quick wit, devotion to duty and family and salt of the earth principles. Family andfriends are invited to pay their respects at the Daley Family Funeral Home, 697] Bank Street (between Scrivens Drive and Metcalfe C0rner)fr0m 2V4 & 60pm. Monday and 274 & 6A9 pm. Tuesday. Funeral Wednesday to Our Lady ofthe Miraculous Medal, 17 First Ave Russell, for Mass at 1 pm. lnurnnient, North Russell Cemetery, In lieu of flowers please support the Canadian Cancer Societies "Relay for Life" at the Osgoode Township High School or the Carleton and Russell 4-H Associations.
