Marie is a graduate from the Royal Conservatory of Music with a Performance Diploma She studied pipe organs and was an organist. - Myrtle Reid made a replica of an 1890's walking suit - ablue linen like cotton with white lace dickie and cuffs for Feb. 19 celebration and Conference 97, - Myrtle Reid hosted an informal social for visitors from New Zealand and England, and their families. - Myrtle Reid was selected for a centennial award, Wellington $11th Biatt'itt green We hosted the 100th anniversary celebrations on Feb. 19, 1997. The large gathering took place at Arkell United Church Glenna Smith from the Arkell branch chaired the events and welcomed members from Badenoch, Brock Road, Morriston and Puslinch Institutes, as well as special guests. The occasion began with the singing of the Centennial song and the lighting of a candle. Greetings and congratulations from M.P.P. for Wellington, Ted Amott were read. Reeve Brad Whicombe congratulated the gatheringby praising the contribution of WI. branches for their committed service The Puslinch Institute compiled a history book entitled "Memories" which covers the history of all five branches from as early as 1903 to the present. A special part of the evening was the presentation of a 100th Anniversary plate in memory of Margaret Starkey. Life Membership pins were also presented to Mrs. Irene Fielding and Mrs. Lynne Lodge. Following the singingof the Institute Grace lightrefreshments were sewed while guests socialized and renewed old friendships. cflfinshnrnugh Mosborough branch'and theirinvited guests heldtheir Feb. 19, 1997 Anniversary meeting at the home of Betty Hale. Founding members Mary Brydon, Teenie Dickieson and Dorothy MacGregor were present. Wendy MacGregor opened the meeting and the celebration began with lighting a gold candle for 100 years of W.I. The Motto was given by Betty Hale and Roll Call was "What I have accomplished with a W.I. Lifeskill?" Each member read a short piece of the history of WI. and Teenie Dickieson gave the theme on "Rocking Chair Musings". A skit was presented by Eileen Stefler. Tow of our members invaded Mars to bring the Martians in the World of W.I,'s in 2097. A collections was takenfor Headquarter's fund. We will celebrate our 50 th Anniversary in September of 1997 QRifiersihe We hosted two other branches to help celebrate the 100th Anniversary of WI. on Feb. 19, 1997 with 50 people in attendance. Riverside presented the motto "Challenge the future: and Portsonby commented on "Celebrate the Past". The Roll Call "What have I accomplished with 3 WI. Lifesldll?"was answered by those attending. Four of our members purchased the Centennial rose. Five members were able to attend the conference in Hamilton. A copy of "for Home and Country" was purchased We displayed the Centennial flag at each meeting.
