South Echo The members of South Lobo W.I. had a well attended meeting for the 100th Anniversary. Past members and friends were invited and were happy to have the Provincial President Marg Harris with us, President, Glenna Ladell welcomed everyone and read a poem that was written by an Institute member in 1916, expressing the high regard that members held for Adelaide Hoodless. The planned programme was used with members taking part A skit "Life in the Early 1900's " was depicted by song and action titled " Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Jim" and readings by members "What A Farm House Is" and "How to Tell if You're an Oldtimer". A collection was taken for the Headquarters fund. All enjoyed an old fashioned lunch and social time, Left to Right - Marg Harris, Dorothy Fletcher, Rie VanSteeg, Mary Henderson, Glenna Ladell & Katherine McNaughton D miniatures meat Etatrtrt West Middlesex District Women's Institute held a successful tea in Strathroy, at the Museum in honour of the founding of the first W.I. in Stoney Creek Those attending saw displays of pictures from each of the five branches in the District, There were historical items, handicrafts, china items, quilt books, Home and Country magazines and much more. Also featured were the Tweedsmuir History books. Special guests included FWIO President, Marg Harris, Area President Gladys Eggleton and Phyllis Laughton, Provincial Board Member and District President. Entertainment for the afternoon was provided by the "Soaring Strings", five ladies with violins and one on keyboard, The parlor music was perfect for the occasion and reminiscent of the 1890's., with the musicians in period costume. The decorated tea room was in blue and gold. We served muffins, scones, tea biscuits andjam, tea and apple juice. We gave a donation to the Museum Zfierfunnh Six Kerwood members joined with Napier branch for the Centennial meeting in their hall on Feb. 19, 1997. Due to illness the group was small, but everyone enjoyed the afiemoon together, following a lunch that would be consistent with 1897. The meeting opened in the usual way, then the Centennial song was sung. The suggested program was used with Debbie Pierce, Napier secretary and Mary Pierce, Kerwood President, reading excerpts from the program. Debbie Smith, Napier President, lit the centennial candle. Each member present read a part in the "Do You Know That" section A special collection was taken for the Headquarters Fund. { Lois Taylor, Napier W.I. and Muriel Langford, Kerwood W.I. Each is a member for more than 50 years. Gfixfnrh North Eistrttt Erankahale Branch members of Brooksdale Women's Institute gathered at the local United Church on Feb. 19, 1997 to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of W.I. Following a luncheon of mulled apple cider, beef stew, tea biscuits, gingerbread with whipped cream, maple sugar and tea our President, Joan Fraser welcomed everyone to begin the meeting. Greetings were brought by the minister of the church and a township councellor. The programme followed the planned format with the lighting of the candle by Jo-Anne Shelley and everyone singing the W.I. Centennial Song Members took part in the songs and skits. Cathy Morris favoured the members with a solo "Weave". 100'h Anniversary Committeezz Cathy Mon-is, Marlene Matheson, Joan Fraser, Lois MacLeod and Ruth Matheson.
