Euronhale Hurondale W.I. celebrated the 100th Anniversary on Feb. 19, 1997 at Exeter United Church. Twenty-five ladies sat down to a meal of homemade soup, sandwiches, johnny cake, maple syrup and beverage. The Roll Call was "Wear antique jewellery and tell something about it", which was well answered by past and present members. The afternoon was spent recalling events that had taken place over the years, looking at the displays of crafts, dishes, Tweedsmuir and other books. Following dinner the 8 members present answered the Roll Call which included their own experiences as a W.I. member and took part in reading the history of the Institute. Everyone sang the Centennial song with wide opened windows so as to be heard from coast to coast It was decided that at each meeting, the minutes from the corresponding month in 1935 would also be read, this being our 62nd Anniversary year, A humorous reading "The New Recniit" was read and 2 contests organized by Mona Aldendice were played Tweedsmuir History books were there to browse through. For an outing the members went to the races, with a charter member being a big winner. Members present at the 100th Anniversary Celebration Kippen East W.I. Front Row - Mona Aldendice, Hilda Payne, Rena Caldwell fieatfmrth Seafonh W.I. held its meeting on Feb. 19, 1997 at Northside United Church to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the W.I. Doris Hugill welcomed 14 members and 9 guests to this special day. Mention were made that Seaforth was formed in 1928. One charter member remains, Thelma Dale, who is still active in the branch. We used the suggested programme with members Helen MacKenzie, Gladys Doig, Marjorie Rock taking part. Other members gave readings and 4H leaders helped in the celebration. Eva McCartney and Dorothy Townsend have also been members since 1928. Lunch was served on W.I. plates consisting of homemade tea biscuits with jam and cookies. 31-11mm Meet ifiietritt LAuburn Auburn branch celebrated on Feb. 19, 1997 with a special meeting to which members from Goderich, Blyth and Clinton and other guests from the community were invited. About 50 people attended. Tina Empey, Auburn President, chaired the meeting and opened with a poem The suggested programme was followed. Mildred Lawlor lit the candle, and Jean Plaetzer lit one for deceased members. Some came dressed in period costume. Laura Mae Chamney was Adelaide Hoodless and Rhonda Bruxer as Erland Lee. Entertainment was provided by Ernie Durwin on harmonica with Lois Hairres as piano accompanist. Everyone joined in singing several old songs and the centennial song led by Laura Mae Charnney accompanied by Marjorie McDougall, pianist. Jean Nethery, Blyth member gave the their branch history formed in 1910 and closed in 1991. Ruth Jardin spoke of Auburn W,I. which began in 1922. The afternoon closed with lunch and Anniversary cake with ice-cream. The branch set up a display in Huron County Museum in Goderich in conjunction with Huron West District. We invited former members and all enjoyed the aflemoon and display. All present donated to the Special Headquarter's Fund. On Oct. 2, 1997, we invited the community and friends to a fun evening, held a Penny Sale and played euchre, with no charge. A great social time.
