Mrs. Harold Trask became the first president and Mrs. Roswell Smith the secretary-treasurer in April l946. The same officers were elected for 1947-1948.During this short period the Institute has been well attended and much work done.The Sunshine committEe has brought cheer to many sick with flowers,frmit A other gifts. Many speakers and short courses have been enjoyed. The Institute has contributed to many projects such as Salvation Army,Institute for Blind,unfortunate in the Community and many Institute projects.0ur Institute has sponsored a Chinese girl for 3 years and a boy for one year. They furnished a room in the Saugeen Memorial Hospite1.Members serve on the Hospital Auxiliary and as 4â€"H Leaders. Baking sales,bazaars and variety concerts are held to raise money. Our Institute Presidents have been Mrs Harold Trask,Mrs. Jack Kirkland,Mrs. Percy Patchell,Mrs. Geo.Siegrest,Mrs. Edward Dickinson,Mrs. Ivan Fenwick(1963IMrs. M.L. Gowanlock,Mrs. Roswell Smith,Mrs.Elgin Messam. (1980) Secretaries have been Mrs. Roswell Smith,Mrs. Howard Nelson,Mrs. Keith McLelland Mrs. Geo.Siegrest,Mrs.Percy Patchell,Mrs. Angus McIntosh and Mrs.M.Gowanlock (1980) The Elsinore Women's Institute has taken part in the Craft and Hobby Fair with projectsâ€" Books,Jam & Jelly,Fish Pond. Members serve on the Community Centre Board,Gateway Haven,Beach committie. They have given financial aid to the Vommunity Centre as well as buying dishes,silver,tab1es,chairs,curtains etc. Members attend District Annuals,Area Conventions,Rallys,0fficer's Conference, Senior projects supplied by the Ministry of Agriculture. Euchres are sponsored in the Winter months and an Annual Pot=Luck Dinner with Bingo prizes and gifts for all children supplied by the Institute. In 1980 our membership is 24. Mrs. Maurice Gowanlock was President of Bruce Centre District for two years 1972-1973. She attended the F.W.I.C. convention in Banff,Alta.in 1973
