A very busy summer - 1995 Castleford Women's Institute met at the home of Lillian Lindsay in August. A delicious picnic lunch prepared by all was enjoyed. During the regular meeting which followed the display for the Renfrew Fair was planned. This year’s theme for the W.I. entries is ’A Child’s Story’. Dewar’s W.I. and Combennere had invited Castleford to their meetings during the summer and several members were able to attend. They reported much fun and games enjoyed with fine fellowship. Castleford members travelled to Hull and visited the Museum of Civilization in June. The magnificent displays of fantastic kimonos, folk art and Indian cultures were impressive. There was something to appeal to everyone's taste and only a few can be seen in one day.
