The Girls Auxiliary and the Junior Girls have active programmes under the leadership of Mrs. Bert Lindsay and Mrs. John Milligan. A Lenten Series of lectures and discussions was held last year and will again take place in Lent of this year, the theme being “Family Life". An Outreach Rally was held last year,a speaker telling of his experiences as a Missionary in Brazil and Haiti. A Hunger Dinner was held, catered to by the young people, the speaker was Mr. Andrew Hrswin, N.D.P. member of Parliament, lately returned from Biafra. The proceeds of the dinner went to Eiafra. A well attended parish picnis was held in June at Fitzroy Provincial Park. There is an active Couples Club. Mrs. Gordon Campbell is president of Anglican Women. Their programme is a varied one, with interest groups in Bible Study, Social Action, Altar Guild work and Dorcas knitting and sewing. A number of evsnts have been catered to, a tea and bazaar held, and the Senior Citizens of the town were entertained at a Christmas party. S. Reed saluted the members of Emmanuel Anglican Church of Arnprior on behalf of the Diocese of Ottawa and wished them many happy returns on their hundredth anniversary during A Thanksgiving supper held in the new Parish Hall. The supper was to mark the building of Emmanuel Church and Rectory in 1869. Addressing the 250 in attendance, Bishop Reed stated the hundredth anniver- sary was in itself a great occasion hut another great occasion, and not to be overlooked, was the erection of "this large and modern parish hall" without which we would not all be here tonight“. In keeping with the theme of the evening Bishop Reed spoke of the church's past and reminised about former visits he has made to the parish. “This church was built some 27 years before the Diocese of Ottawa was formed and some seven years after the formation of the Diocese of Ontario", said the Eishop in reference to the birthday celectrations. He said he was delighted to 598.50 many young boys and girls present. They are the ones, he said, who will proceed into the future to carry on the great name that those before us worked so hard to establish. Eishop Read said he was confident the congregation of the future will look back on our generation with the same respect and admiration as we have for what we term the "pioneers" of this land. In his speech he brought to mind the many great services contributed to the parish by the late Rev. R.G.Fiander. “I was glad mention was made of him tonight", the Bishop said. Mrs. Fiander, widow:of the late Rev. Fiander was present at the supper. Along with Bishop Reed members of the Head Table included former clergy of the church, Rev. H.O.Hodder who served from l9hOâ€"l9h7 and Rev.R.H.Hobbs who served from 196k until 1969, and Mrs. Fiander. C non T.H.Iveson who served in the church from 1933 until l9h0 was unable to attendabut in a letter read by Rev. Meakin he sent his regrets and wished the members of Emmanuel Church his "best regards and good wishes with God's blessing on their church life now and in the future." The procession of ministers to the head table got the evening underway about 7:00 p.m. and immediately following the singing of grace all were seated to begin‘ the dinner provided by the ladies of the parish.
