Durham West District WI A donation to the ACWW Women Feed the World project was raised when this District hosted a rest area at the Orono Fall Fair. Most Branches participated by working two to three hour shifts serving tea, coffee and homemade cookies. Bruce Centre District WI Another successful Cr aft and Hobby Fair was held at the Southampton Colliseum. Branches from the District supplied food throughout the day. Nelson WI The Nelson WI were special guests at the official opening of the Cecil H. Norton Public School in Burlington. For a small fee during the 19305, Mr. Norton provided transportation for rural stuâ€" dents enabling them to attend high school. With the consolidation of public schools he purchased buses and transported both public and high school students. This Branch approached the Halton Board of Education to have the Burlington school named in honour of Mr. Norton. The group also . lanted a Crimson King finale tree at the front 7 I entrance and donated a farm kit to the library. The five Branches - Arkell, Badenoch, Brock Road, Morriston and Pus- linch - set up a booth for the afternoon and sold lemonade and cookies. As guests of the Riverside WI this fall, they were shown a slide presentation by Nancy Marten of her Visit to Nepal as an English teacher. Crowland WI Maureen Delahunt, former Editor of the [lame & Courtiry in Zimbabwe, Africa, spoke to this Branch about the W1 in her country. She displayed the Home & Country and described their meetings and projects. She was visiting her WI penpal Helen Young, from the Lynvillc WI, who presented slides to the group of her visit to Zimbabwe, Belgrave WI This Branch entered a float in the parade for the 125th anniversary celebration of East Wawanosh Township The float was primari- ly decorated by reusing materials. They won second prize for their entry and after expen» ses they donated $35 to Ronald McDonald House in London. Parry Sound North District WI This District organized a bus trip to Sudbury to take advantage of the Breast Screening Clinic. Thirtyv two WI members from five Branches participated and enjoyed a day of shopping after their clinic appoint- mans, Chisholm WI The members of Chisholm Branch are compiling a “Welcome to Chisholm" Kit in hopes of attracting new members, as well as providing a service to new residents.
