Cross Country Calendar Selwyn WI The members of this Branch have just completed the compilation of a brochure entitled “Who Can I Call?" It lists the services available to both children and adults living in the Bridgenorth, Lakefield and Buckhom areas of Peterborough County. Tec-We-Gwill WI This Branch is keeping 4-H alive and well in South Simcoe County by sponsorâ€" ing up to four clubs at a time. Recently, three clubs completed “Home for the Holi- days,” with 33 4â€"H members receiving their bars and awards. Demonstrations were given on Christmas baking and crafts. The program was held in the Tec- Weâ€"Gwill WI Hall as part of their monthly meeting. Each person who attended the gathering brought a non-perishable food item to be donated to the Bradford Food Bank and My Sisters Place in Alliston. Glenbumie WI The Glenbumie Women’s Institute were recent participants in the mutual Festival of Trees held each year at Portsmouth Har- bour in Kingston. A three-foot white tree was donated, along with a variety of red birds, red, green and white feeders and snow flakes designed by Branch members. Many trees, table top decorations, wall hangings, wreaths and ginger bread houses make up the festival. These were auctioned and raffled with the money going to the three local hospitals. Mr. and Mrs. Coutthard presented a Heinzman piano to the St. Pauls Women's Institute. It is to be kept at the Down/e Township Hall for use by the WI and the community. Sprlng1993 Joycevllle WI The Joyceville WI got into the spirit of Christmas by preparing a turkey dimer at the Colonnade Golf and Country Club for the seniors in their area. They provided entertainment: including songs, readings, dances, sldts and a marching band. A quilt and afghan made by members were also raffled. Kent West District W This District showed their concern for the environment by declaring a “Clean Up Your Road Day." Wearing bright clothing, walking shoes, gloves and carrying gar- bage bags, they were out on rural roads and village and town streets picking up litter. A press release was sent to all the munici- pal councils and local papers in the District to get the community involved to help stop filtering. . Nassagaweya Wl Homefest 1992 - The BiggestLittle Craft Show In The Country - took place in No- vember at the Nassagaweya Community Centre. Homefest organizers, the Nassa- gaweya Women‘s Institute, presented a piano to their local community. This is certainly a wonderful example to neigh- bourhoods across Ontario how women can band togedier to preserve “community spirit." Mt. Pleasant Wl This Mt. Pleasant Women’s Institute along with the Mt. Pleasant Community Heritage Group, celebrated the 175th anâ€" niversary of their community. The WI Hall was overflowing. The program included old-time musicians and a review of the history of the area. Plaques marking the occasion were presented by the Warden of Peterborough County and the Reeve o Cavan Township.
