Pittsburgh wr Thanks to this Branch, the seniors of Fairï¬eld Manor East in Pittsburgh Town- ship enjoyed an afternoon of musical entertainment and readings in cele- bration of Valentine’s Day. Bridgeport WI This Branch began in 1946 by a group of women known as the Bridgeport Soldiers Welfare Group. After the war, they raised enough funds to build a cenotaph at the local cemetery. Each year they remember ‘ the soldiers and place a wreath on the " cenetaph. Floebrick WI The Public Relations Ofï¬cer for mis group, Gail Salmon, would like to say “Hats off to the ladies of the Roebrick WI." As a relative newcomer to the community, she was amazed at their level of commu- nity involvement, whetlter it was catering at the community hall, packing cheer boxes for senior citizens, or putting up displays at the local fair. She soon realized that “these caring ladies wore many hats.†The Shakespeare Women's Institute donated $1000 to the North and South Easthope Volunteer Fire Depart- ment for a new refrigerator and stove. Capetown WI This Branch recently participated in the Opening of the Copetown Lions’ Commuâ€" nity Centre, Ancaster Heritage Days and the Queen’s Rangers School Heritage Days. At each of these events, their display included publicity fliers and brochures, Tweedsmuir Histories, Branch memora- bilia and a display wheel with some of the projects they have been involved in since ' chartered in 1921. The two groups have exchanged phoâ€" tographs, newsletters and program ideas. The Dunvegan WT noted the English group favoured competitions, while Ontario members were inter- ested in community projects. Rosslyn WI Thanks to this Branch, the Canadian Flag flies at the front of the Rosslyn Community Centre. The Institute also donated two large display cases in the upstairs hall, available to anyone in the community, and a well-needed supply of tea towels.
