Richmond WI, Carleton West To help celebrate the 175th anniversary of e founding of the village of Richmond, this ranch designed a wall hanging. The patchâ€" work blocks depict the village churches and the Masonic Temple. which was the home of this group for many years. The hanging won first place at the Richmond Fair in the quilting category for organizations The Branch also appliqued a maple leafquilt to commemorate this special occasion. The quilt was raffled, with the proceeds presented to the Richmond Volunteer Fire Department by Branch Presi- dent Alice Dupuis. The theme of the meeting was the history of Selkirk, and her new book. “Who Killed George?," was a fitting topic. The book is about a mysterious death in a local fantin and how the wife was tried for murder at the Court House in Cayuga. Flags from ACWW member societies decoruth the lea room walls in honour of lntemational Month. Wl members displayed souvenirs from their travels throughout the world. including a collection of seventy-five dolls in authentic costume. Rutherglen Member Supports CAT scan utherglen Women's Insti- tute member Alice Steel is pictured selling raffle tickets towards a $5-million dollar tar- get for a CAT Scan Operating Fund for the North Bay Civic Hospital. The non-profit fund wants to raise enough money to setup a permanent pool of cash from which interest could be drawn to pay a CAT Sean's an- nual operating costs. Alice credits the equipment with sav- ing her life six years ago. She volunteers most weekdays from 9:30 am. to 7 pm. By March ist, Alice had sold $3500 worth of 52 tickets. Ferguson’s Falls WI.
