Instead of long speeches and reminders of what we had accomplished at our anniversary meeting. we decided to look ahead. Our ten members donated articles. new and used. for an auction. We let our invited guests know that all the money raised was going to buy a goat for the Uganda Project. Our members and guests didn‘t let us down. [Acting auctioneer, Elaine Williams. capa- bly took the bids A picturesque poster of a goat climbing a mountain was very effective as each item was said When the goat reached the top of the mountain. a grand total of $220 was collected] This idea came from the Price is Right show on TV. We were shocked, but happy with the evenings’ proceeds. I am sending this cheque to you. If you have compicted your project by now. can we contribute it to another? Dutch Tulip Celebration Garden of 400 bulbs was planted by members of the M8108le Branch In front of their Town Hall and around die local cenotaph. The bulbs were won by member Cheryl Bunda. who entered a contest announced in Canadian Living magazine. From left to right standing in Irontof this years' display 0/ tulips are Bessre Quinn - President, Cheryl Bunda - PRO and long-time members Peggie Schan‘ and Fiuth Reaney. Sincerely yours in WI, Mayiel Morgan. Roblin WI The contest celebrated the 50th anniversary of the first gift of 100.000 tulips given to Canada by Princess Juliana of The Netherlands. This is one of 200 similar gardens planted as living symbols of the bond of friend- ship that exists between the two countries. The contest required particiâ€" pants to write a brief account of the strong connection between their Canadian community and The Netherlands.
