Wellsâ€"next-thc- Sen. ...I was fortunate in making contact with a member of the WI. I happened to be making inquiries in the local art shop when the owner said. “This lady who has just come in will be able to help you." Joan Kerr was able to help me. as she was a member of the WI. 1 introduced myself as being a member of the Hillier, Ontario, Branch. I was invited t attend the reopening of the Community Centre which had recently been refurbished b, the local groups. including the WI. This being the only opportunity to meet any members. as they had already had their regular meeting, I duly appeared at the appointed time and place to be warmly greeted by their President. Rosemary Bond. 1 was most interested in the display of items, and my eyes lit on a copy of our Environmentally Friendly Hints brought back by a member who had visited Canada. I gave them a copy ofthe FW'IO program for our 100th birthday celebration on February 19, 1997. which they were pleased to accept. l was delighted to learn that they also celebrated February 19 by having a special tea for members and the ringing of the church bells - a celebration indeed! Marjorie Darling “ NOTES FROM THE PROVINCIAL OFFICE Fees Due from Disbanded Branches Branches who are cunently disbanding are still obligated to remit their membership fees for the past year to the FWlO Provincial Office, Because fees have been collected in April and not forwarded until the following February. these memberships are still owing to the provincial level. About Life Memberships Yes. Life Memberships still exist. They have not been eliminated. What has been elimi- nated is the fact that Life Members are exâ€" empt from paying fees. So, when Branches remit their membership fees to the Provincial Office in 1997, Life Members will also have to pay their membership fee. They are no longer exempt.
