FWIO Oliesiruciuring The Final Report Approved at August 1998 Board It was decided to print the framework and the flow chart of our organization so all members would be aware of the changes that have been made in the way FWIO does busi- ness. The following was discussed, voted on and accepted by the Provincial Board of Di- rectors at the August meeting. The decisions made by yourBoard Director at this meeting and others have not been easy. It has been a long. hard process. Everyone wants what is best for Women's Institute and we all have our own ideas about what is best. A decision has been reached. Now it is up to us, the members of this great organization. to make it work. If. after a fair trial period. some part ofthe new structure does not work. it can be changed Nothing is written in stone. However. we must make a concerted effort to work with what our elected representatives passed. The Provincial Board will consist ofeicven members - eight regional representatives (Provincial Board Directors), 0 President, President-Elect and Past President. For I999, and for that year only. the Board Directors were selected from the current Board (ï¬rst and second-year Board mem- bers). Board Directors felt this was necessary to maintain continuity. This new framework will allow the Board to have teleconferences and exchange infor~ mation quickly. After Board meetings. each Board Director will contact the Provincial Advisory Councillors (PAC) in her region. This will be a real boon to communications. Members may contact their PAC member forinformation and also be assured theircon» cems will reach the Board level quickly. The PAC member (one from each Subdivi- sion) is the critical link between the membership and the Provincial Board of Di- rectors. PAC members chair and/or sit on at least one committee This year. Kingston. Grey-Bruce, North- ern, Cochraneâ€"Temiskaming and North Central Areas must elect one PAC and one PAC Alternate for a three-year term. Guelph Area must elect two PAC and two PAC Al- ternates. This represents the threeayear Board Directors coming off provincial level The Board Directors who did not complete their term chose to either become a Board Director or 23. PAC member under the new system. This proves that you chose well. Your representative is interested and cares about our organization. As the Provincial Board has accepted the framework and flow chart of our organizer tion. it is now up to all of us to try to make it works We can do this! Please accept this as your notice that all changes are to take effect after the November l998 annual meeting. Our Constitution and By-Laws are being looked at by the Constitution Committee. It is their hope that the Handbook will be more user friendly and be ready for distribution in February I999. Please contact your Board Director or the Provincial Ofï¬ce if you have questions.
