Letters and faxes have been received with sugges- tions on ways to save money and requests to know if FWIO has a budget and are within budget. Please be advised that. yes. FWIO does have a budget. And. yes. we are within budget. At every Board meeting the Board of Directors receive a financial statement. If there are questions, these are answered by Lynn Ruigrok. our Executive Assistant. If you have questions or want to know if FWIO is within their budget. please conâ€" tact your Board Director. There is no point in stewing and wondering.just call. Ifyour Board Director is unable to answer your questions. then by all means. call or write to the Provincial Office. Branchi t . Our Proudest Meeting Moment By Lynda Jamison We hosted a Childrens' Book Party. similar to other home sales. We each did some Christmas shopping. The profits from the sales of this party were used to purchase books to donate to the local Christmas Hamper Program. There were 12 children from our community who re» ceived a book for Christmas. More Children under the wings of Wll! We have felt the need for an organized group in our community, Our assistance has been requested by local groups. it is our mission to give back toourselves and to our community. We look forward to the challenges of leadership and personal growth. Our meet- ings are comfortable and informal. We can wear jeans and sweatshirts. and sometimes As some of you. by now. are aware, FWIO has a new framework for doing business. The complete report is in this newsletter. The Handbook should be ready for distribution in February. 1999. Our next undertaking will be the Strate- gic Plan. This plan will continue on from the old one which finishes this year. A Strategic Plan is needed to show where we want to go in the future or what we would like to accomplish. and how we plan to get there. Where would you like to see FWIO in the future? What would you like to see FWIO accomplish? One member made the following sugges tion: What if we asked the membership to send Canadian Tire money to the Provin- cial Office to help purchase supplies and equipment. What a great idea! What we need for the committee meeting room is a television and VCR, If members sent their Canadian Tire money. we would we even share a glass of wine! Our hope is to centinue the traditions of WI. to foster the bonds between family. friends and community, I grew up with the WI, My mother, Phyllis Lott. has been an active member of the WI foras long as I can remember. What a commit- ment those women had to the ideals of WI. I also remember how the community and families depended on the WI. I am a parent and am raising a family on my husband’s family farm. Living in a rural community prompted me to get in touch with other young women. We met once a month for a “girls night out." We had many common needs and goals. After introducing my friends to WI. we decided to meet more constructively. Our first meeting was in April. 1997. We continued to meet with the intentions of providing ourselves with entertainment. Alisa Zimmer and Leanne Morgan. soon realize enough to buy both of these items. At the Board meeting when this was announced. Board Directors quickly came forth with the Canadian Tire money they had with them. Send yours to the Provin- cial Office if you don't mind parting with it. You will be pleased to know that we have rented our committee meeting room at the Provincial Office. It has already been rented for a two-day meeting. and there is another half-day booking. Notice went out to small companies and organizations in the Guelph area that we had a meeting room for rent at comparable rates ($ l 00 per day). Of course. it is only available if we do not need it ourselves. The money earned will be applied to our own rental costs.
