The Challenge is On! .By Edith Eedy As the Associated County Women of the World (ACWW) 200] Conference approaches, members of the Wellington South District Women’s Institute are pre- paring to contribute to its success. Hosting this conference will cost money and every little bit helps! The Wellington South WI is recycling old bluejeans into “Oneeof-a-Kind" vests for children and adults. As well. they are designing children‘s jumpers and skirts. The idea is not new. But people are interested in well-made clothes designed “with heart" at a reasonable price. To date. Ruth Laking from the Arkell Branch has sewn and sold over 28 vests and 5 purses. Jean Hume, Judy Sharpe, Darlene Hutchinson, Dorothy Ellis, Ida Merkley and Glenna Smith have helped in this initial venture. The fundraiser will be offered at group workshops this spring. FWI mmittees and Ch The goal is to raise 2000, plus I, dollars for the ACVVW Pre~Conference Workshops. We challenge any other District in Ontario to a similar fundraising activity. Let your imagination “run wild!" Anything from selling home bakingr to flying a kite will do. as long as it makes money! The amount each District raises could be published on a regular basis until the summer of ZOOI. This venture will give the WI team spirit a boost. And you can invite interested community members to these workshops. This is how we can bring new members into our organization. The rules for this challenge are simple. Any District who is willing to take on the challenge has to report their fundraising activity and the amount raised to the Home & Country on a quarterly basis until the summer of 2001 . Let's become motivated to share our spirit of generosity With women from other countries. Who Will treasure their experiences in Canada and their new found friendships.
