FWIO supported Joseph Wambaugh‘s petition requesting severe and more suit- le penalties for young offenders, And ey supported the FWIC resolution asking to restrict the use of cell phones. I continue to monitor the New Curricu- lum for Ontario schools. There is also concern over the number of accidents and the loss of lives at rail crossings. Excellence in Agriculture Award Cathy Lasby (pictured at right) was this year’s winner of the FWIO Excellence in Agriculture Award. Christine Reaburn (left). FWIO President. and Donald Rickard, Vice President of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, presented the award during the evening Horse Show on November 3. Participating at the Royal is a Lasby family affair; they are now in their fourth generation of participation at this annual national agricultural event. Cathy has volunteered and exhibited at the Royal in a variety of ways. As a 4-H member she competed in eight annual Queen‘s Guineas Competitions. Cathy was one of the founding members ofthe Knob Hill Farms National Junior Beef Heller Show. She has also been a member of the Youth Activities Committee. And today, she represents the Canadian Hereford Association on the Beef Cattle Committee at the Royal.
