Con- gratulations to Kemble W| (near Owen Sound) with 8 new members and MorsonWl (near Flainy River) with 6 new members. These two Branches led in the Membership Recruitment Campaign's New Member Incentive Program for the period lrom April 1. 2001. to March 31 . 2002, As an incentive to Branches to help in their membership recruitment for the next two years. FWIO is offering the following incentive to the Branch who gains the most new members in the period from April 1. 2002. to March 31, 2003. and in the period from April 1. 2003. to March 31. 2004: - The Branch who gains the most new mem- bers during each of these periods will win one paid registration to the Provincial Conference in 2004, plus $100 in cash. Note: A new member refers to an individual who has never before been a Women's institute member. How have you been promoting your Branch. District or Area? This is something to think about as you start your new season. Are you promoting at tall fairs and upcoming craft shows? Are you handing out brochures to potential members with a local contact name and phone number? Remember, you can‘t do this alone. Your Branch has to work as a TEAM. Keep on inviting those potential new members, be positive at all times and you will succeed in making your Branch grow. I am presenting a Membership Workshop at several Area Conventions this fall. Now. it is time to cultivate our Wt ROSE garden. This ROSE garden may save your life or someone's dear to you. Knowledge is our best weapon against the invaders into our health. What a better way to get this knowledgethan by present- ing or attending a ROSE session. An article on ovarian cancer came across my desk this summer and I would like to share a piece of information from it. Ovarian cancer is a silent, hard to detect disease. There is now a blood test called "CA-125" that can help detect this disease. although it is not 100 percent. Your rural Ontario sharing education insurance may pay for it, or you may have to pay for it yourself, But. if in doubt. your life is worth it! I attended a ROSE session recently on ovarian cancer, One of the messages relayed was that it your doctor says, "Don't worry about it!" and you are worried. be persistent. It may save your life! it I may leave you with some advice â€" know your body and how you feel, Don’t be satisfied with "Oh. you are just under stress" or “It's that time of your lite. what do you expect?" You should expect and deserve quality and don't take anything less. Ask the doctor your questions as many times as it takes to get an answer, Life is precious. Enjoy it!
