Jackie was the first recipient of the newly formed scholarship, The scholarship was made possible through the generosity of the three Women‘s Institute Districts in Hastings County. Jackie also had the honour of being chosen the Winner at the Federated Women‘s Institutes of Ontario Sixtieth Anniversary Scholarship for post»secondary studies Hockey, one of her many talents, earned her a Gold Medal as a member of Team Ontario at the Canadian Win- ter Games in New Brunswick last March. The group took part in various sessions - quick and easy appetizers and creative pastries preâ€" sented by professional pastry chef Alissa Stolz; how to etch a taux stained glass window sun catcher instructed by Michelle Flae from MI- chael's; ribbon embroidery under the guidance of Donna UI‘IIey and Joanne Piper from the Guelph Embroidery Guild; natural gardening by Ann Morgan of the K-W Garden Club and an iniormation session from volunteers with the Canadian Cancer Society who outlined the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre facilities. She was a member of the Clute Agricultural Society until it dissolved and taught 4-H clubs for 35 years, While her community involvement is far reaching. upon receiving this prestigious award, Johnson said, "I never did anything unless I wanted to and believed in it. and you don't volunteer without people along side of you.
