Every Member contributes with her time or her skills or both toward making the annual Tea Room at the Russell Fair. The event is a promotional meet-and-greet event that raises the funds for the Branch‘s work and donations. In the picture, Diny and Leny take their turn at “manning the boothâ€. This year’s clear skies and fantastic attendance meant the booth sold out! Participation by all Members makes the event a great success! Do you know what happened to the teddy bears that were collected at the Quilt Show? In December a convoy of 2 military trucks and 2 RCMP vehicles loaded with your teddy bears stopped at the foot of the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor to show off about 6000 dolls and other stuffed animals â€" over 3000 of these bears came from Wi Members. Former Southern Region Board Director Ruth Crump and WI Members Ruby Robertson (who knit 25 bears) and Mary McCord were on hand. Ruth, Ruby and Mary were on CBC television as well as the A-Channel out of Windsor. Ruth was interviewed by AM 800 radio as well as the Windsor Star â€" great publicity for WI. Once across the bridge the bears were going to be taken to Hurricane Katrina victims in New Orleans by the Michigan National Guard. Thanks to you the Women‘s Institute Members. You put a smile on the face of thousands ofchildren as they cuddled one of your bears at Christmas. MW m3 ~ magical: eii‘I‘éJmsg‘? 15
