Time Warp This past February, the Gillies Hill WI time warped back 110 years, The front room at Sherry Manery’s home was transformed into an inviting Victorian Tea Room complete with guests attired in period dress, Special guestsrncludedSylviaHasburleruce County District President) and Fran Farrell (Grey Bruce Area President). To the delight of all, Adelaide Hoodless (Wanita Halliday) appeared to vividly portray her illustrious life; both the humourous side and the trials she faced. To end the special meeting, high tea was served; complete with silver service, finger sandwiches, truffles and much more, It was a truly unique and wonderful experience for all! Gluten-Free Foods Suzanne Schroedter hosted Hillier WI (Prince Edward County District) at her cafe for a workshop on gluten-free specialty foods. Suzanne prepared a glutenâ€"free lunch for a group of 24. and also shared how she became interested in helping individuals with very restricted diets. Prescott District Celebrates in Style! On Sunday, May 6, the Prescott District WI held an afternoon tea in the Banquet Room at the Nation Golf Club in recognition of Wl's 110th Birthday. One hundred twenty Members and friends among them Women's InstituteMembersfromAvenmore,Bainsville,ChesterviIle,Finch,Argentile, Picnic Grove and Newington Branches attended. There are currently half a dozen active Branches within the Prescott District: Cassburn celebrates 60 years this coming July; Green Lane and Sunshine have been active for sixtyâ€"nine years; Stardale will celebrate 60 years this October 22nd; Hill View Branch has been active for fiftyâ€"two years and Plantagenet has fifty- five years of service. Eleanor Kerr, Plantagenet WI, showed off her style while celebrating! Several dignitaries were on hand to offer their congratulations, including Jeanne Charlebois, Mayor of Hawkesbury, Jean Yves Lalonde, Mayor of Alfredâ€"Plantagenet, Gary Barton, Mayor of Champlain Township and Pierre Lemieux, M.P. Glengarryâ€"Prescottâ€"Russell. Many guests came dressed for the occasion in period costume-â€"there were bonnets and bustles galore! Dorothy Muldoon, formerly an active WI Member who celebrated her 100th Birthday earlier this year was given special recognition. A lovely Anniversary cake was created by Ingrid Allen and musical entertainment was provided by Kim Allen McGilI.
