While touring on our doubleâ€"decker bus, we visited the Confederation Building in Charlottetown and the guide explained how the meeting took place as we saw where the Father's of Confederation sat for their debate. As part of the 1967 centennial celebrations, FWIC had WI members, from across Canada, create 10 Provincial and 2 Territory Crests in needlepoint for chairbacks for the chairs in the Confederation Building. A WI Member in each province worked very hard on the needlepoint crests, In 1990, it was noticed that the needlework crests were wearing, so they were removed, mounted and framed and displayed in the Centre. When Nunavut became a territory in 1999, the crests were taken down until a crest could be made made for the new Territory. Autumn Termere from PEI (daughter of the incoming President â€"Elect Marie Kenny) hand stitched the Nunavut Crest and Sheila Needham, President of FWIC, presented it to the Confederation Centre on June 19, 2009 when conference participants attended the production of Anne of Green Gables.
