Beamsville WI Westover WI WestoverWl participated in a local campaigncalledTheJoyandHope of Haiti Baby Layette Project â€" a project aimed at collecting items for new mothers in Haiti. During the campaign, over 500 new and nearly new baby items and over 1000 diapers were collected. Hundreds of rectangular diapers with soakers and Velcro closures were sewn from new flannel, used flannel sheets and towels. Knitted or crocheted sweater sets were lovingly hand made and receiving blankets were sewn. All items were received in Haiti this past fall May thanks were given for the donations and to the volunteers who made it a very successful project, This past winter, the Beamsville WI held a Craft Day for McNally House Pamela Blackwood, the executive directorjoined the ladies for light refreshments and talked about what was happening at the hospice since it opened. They had figured on about 40 people needing their help in the first year and to date they have had 67 in the first six months of being opened, McNally House provides clients with many of their favorite foods, linens, music and anything to make them comfortable. Pamela noted that volunteers are needed to fill many areas from answering phones to cooking meals.
