‘\\ hateier the mind can conceive and you can bring yourself to believe. ion can Lichieie!” For me. the next year in .lunior \\t\nieri\ institute is limited only by our imagination and our desire to helieie in ourselves! -\i our recent fall conference, held .it Stilina, I sensed :1 mood of renewed enthusiasm and commitment at both the branch and prmineinl levels. I am honored that you hate expressed your tnitli in my lendership by asking me to be your president for the :1th year. My lntUhCmCl’ll in WI goes back .1 long nay, [0 my earliest days in a rural community in Halton. Through Jill. \\I scholarships and Junior luriners. I gained an appreciation of the deep concern the W! has for rural “omen. More recently. I have served on the JWIO c\cctiti\e and as editor \‘i \‘lJI‘ hook. Still More of Everyâ€" thing. The highlight at my Institute \ctirs was serving on the provincial hotirtl of Federated Women's Insti- tutes til Ontario l’rom [983 to 1985. Carol Hyde ____â€"â€"__._ The network of friends I have made in WI enriches my life. _ The Wl has changed and is being challenged to change and grow even more. 1 too have felt the pull of our busy world. To try to meet the needs of two sons. one clergy-husband, church ties, a full-time museum job, Institute work and needs. It is towards this challenge that I will try to lead the JWI during this year. We will be taking the last half of the motto, "for personal growth and community involvement" to heart. Every branch will be challenged to find at least one real need in their community and then do something creative to meet it. I hope this will involve branches with other community groups. A sense of working and achieving something together is very rewarding. l have always felt the cxisten a close bond between Jwiczsg FWIO. It has been gratifying for me to see a _slow but steady growth in communication and mutual under. standing in rccent years. We much in common that mutu should be automatic The ways in which the work is accomplished is imâ€" material. The end result â€" community enrichment â€" is the goal of all of us That is why, I personally, have never been hung up on names and ages. The work, whether accomplished by 20 year-olds or 80 year-olds, is still accom- plished! An atmosphere of Open dialogue and shared experience is green hat thinking. Who needs black hat thinkers all the time? In closing, I would like to thank the other members of my executive for coming on board. Together “E can make this ship either sail or flounder. It’s up to us to make all JWI members believers in themselves.
