Craft Specialist with the Home Economies Branch. The two win- ning rugs that will go on to FWIC Competition will be MacCrimmon Branch. Glengarry District and Elora WI. Wellington Centre District. The rugs had previously been in competition at the indi- vidual Area Conventions in the Fall. and the winning two rugs are eligible for National Competition. Those competing were. Central Area. Moorish WI; Eust- ern Area. MacCrimmon WI: Kingston Area. Joycevillt: and Tincap Wl's; Northern Area. Trout Mills WI: Northwestern Area. Stratton WI; and Guelph Area. Elora and Speedside Wl's, SEVENTY- FIVE The Institute motto. “For Home and Country": has been carried out by WILLIAMSFORD WI, GREY CENTRE DISTRICT. since its organization on January 2. I906. The Branch was in Charge of all community First World War work, Halloween parties for community children. T.B. . surveys. and assistance with purchasing a mobile kitchen in 194l. were projects carried out by the members. The Institute helped sponsor a Japanese refugee girl and supported 4-H clubs. The ï¬rst Santa Claus parade was the work of the Branch. Their project to buy community lights » for Williamslord was sparked by a 5 1000.00 donation from the legacy of Mr. and Mrs. Ephriam Krause. With the help of the community. more than $4000.00 was raised to purâ€" chase 26 lights along the highway and side streets At the come-and-go tea to commemorate the 75th an- versary, a cake with the Institute crest and colors was cut by past president, Mrs. Cliff Dinsmore and past secretary-treasurer. Mrs. Thelma Kuglin. who is still an active life member. Both held ofï¬ce 25 years ago. Of interest were displays by the 4»H Clubs. depicting their work from l963 to the present time.
