PRESIDENTIAL REMARKS â€" Dame Raigh Roe. in her presidential remarks remind- ed all it was 50 years ago almost to the day when ACWW was born. In a pageant type presentation. Mrs. Roe introduced representatives of personalities whose important roles in the organization live on. First on stage was Mrs. Adelaide Hoodless, portrayed by Mrs. Adele Westlake an Ontario delegate; followed by mem- bers for Mrs. Watt, native of Ontario and first ACWW President; Lady Aberdeen, Elsie Zimmern and Mrs. Drage, whose dream began Pennies For Friendship among the 7000 women belonging to ACWW in [936. Then followed stand-ins. for Past Presidents. Mrs. Sayre and Mrs. Berry. Next was a thrilling moment when Mrs. Van Beekoff, Mrs. Doll and Mrs. Farquharson appeared on stage relating highlights of their experi- ences, as each to~morrow began its to-day. Mrs. Roe concluded “the present is a bridge link and we must make sure it is strong enough to bear the load we may be called on to carry." ACWW FLAGS â€" The flags that had travelled to remote corners of each Society during the triennium were returned to the stage by all Area Vice Presidents. Donations for Pennies For Friendship totalling 35,000 pounds were presented. This donation will go into the capital fund for administration of ACWW. the fund will close at the end of ACWW'S golden jubilee year.
