The presentation of the 1975 scholarships to the winners of the Entrance Awards of the College of Family and Consumer Studies. University of Guelph. took place on January 19. 1976 in the University Centre. Twelve of the winners were present for the oc- casion and the sandwich supper which followed. One recipient was unable to attend, Dr. Janet Wardlaw. Dean of the College of Family and Consumer Studies. welcomed everyone and ex- preSSed her appreciation to the Women’s Institutes for their continued support of this educational project. Dr. Wardlaw introduced Miss Helen McKercher. Director of the Home Economics Branch. She outlined briefly the history of the Entrance Awards from the time of the conception of the idea to the present day. She expressed her appreciation for being invited to atâ€" tend and extended her congratulations to the teetptents. Mrs. Herbert Maluske. President of F.W.l.O.. stated she was likewise very happy to be present. She announced that in 1976 twenty-five Entrance Awards would be made available to girls in their first year of studies at the University. It was her suggestion to the recipients that they make this fact known to any one interested and encourage them to make application for an award. She was sorry that all the awards avail- able for i975 had not been utilized. Mrs. Maluske then presented the girls with their certificates and cheques. congratulating and wishing each one continued success in her studies at the Uni- versity. I Mrs. Margaret Woof. Supervisor. Junior Exten- sion. and Mrs. Barbara Flewelling, Regional Super- v1sor. of the Home Economics Branch. were also pres- ent. They brought greetings and their congratulations to the girls. 16 DOROTHY FUTCHER ONTARIO WOMEN’S INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIP The highlight for Jeannie Gow of Wallact was to be presented with her certificate by Mrs Cher. a past president of FWIO and for whott- scholarship was named. It was a genuine thrill for Mrs. Futcher t. Thomas to present the award personally, especia this was the first time an Elgin County girl has the recipient. Miss Gow is a member of the Tryct 4-H Homemaking Club. Jeannie. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Gt in her first year of nursing at Fanshawe College. toria Campus. London. Her mother and two sister all nurses. so it seemed the natural profession I: low. Active in 4-H, Miss Gow has completed her project and received Advanced Honours at the ‘ Lorne Achievement Day.
