UNESCO Gift Coupon Project N0. 569 to aid Leadership Training Nutrition Education in the South Paciï¬c - Gilbert and Ellicc Islands Asia - Malaysia (Sarawak) Africa - Zambia ACWW has learned that :t priority need in devel- oping countries is for the training of leaders to organ» izc and run women's groups in the villages. Women can gain conï¬dence and cspcricncc in these groups. Through discussion and demonstration they learn to use valuable time. energy and local resources to greater advantage. They learn to improve standards of health. hygiene and nutrition for all the family. The teaching ol'lileracy is all important. as far too many women are still unable to read and write. This prevents them from implementing to the full the in- structions and techniques despite their appreciation of the need to grow the fruit and vegetables necessary to provide a balanced diet.
