ADIEU , 3 ‘ . 1.. Mr. Stewart hosting the annual dinner honouring the FWIO at the annual meeting last January. The Hon. Wm. A. Stewart, former Minister of Ag- riculture and Food retired in October. The Women's Institutes of Ontario have valued the concern he al- ways held, for the progress of the Organization. Through the work ofthe Home Economics Branch and the Director. Miss McKercher. Mr. Stewart Was always aware of the programmes Women‘s Institutes had undertaken. He knew of the proposals the mem» hers had suggested through resolutions. and unnum- bered times assisted personally in suggesting guideâ€" lines. Certainly he knew all that was “going on“ at the Erland Lee Home and proved a genuine friend with a keen interest in the renovation and advancement of this great undertaking ol~ the FWIO. A staunch supporter at the Leaders’ Breakfast. tell~ ing about his four daughters‘ and Mrs. Stewart‘s inâ€" volvement in the 4~H Homemaking Club programme, he knew all about the manuals and often told how he tested many a recipe. Perhaps the most important thing to the WI mem- bers, he knew about the WI. and better still. told us how proud he was of the organization that started in Ontario and spread around the world. Because of the warmth of his personality along with a lovely humane attitude toward all of us. FWIO can only respond by saying “It's been good to know you. and we wish you well in the years ahead." BURFORD WI â€" Mr. Noel Mason, principal of the high school, spoke on human relations. He stressed unconditional love in order to bring a student from de‘ pendence to independence and then to inter- dependence. so as to learn to work with one another and share talents. The mind is like a human parachute â€" ifit remains closed it is useless and you fall; if it opens you look around and see many wonderful things in our adult world. We all want to have love, obedience, troops of friends and a satisfied mind i so keep the thread of communication open, The whole community must get involved in education. HOUSE LOG â€" WHAT’S THAT! Mrs. Donald Harvie of Harvie Settlement became interested in the House Log through the Tweedsmuir History Workshop. As Curator for Simcoe East District she says “when mention is made of a House Log people don‘t underâ€" stand immediately, but when you explain it is a book containing the story of a home from the time it was built. they become fascinated.“ Mrs. Harvie had discovered many interesting things about their own home built by Mr. Wm. Black and occupied by the Harvies‘ since 1898. The bricks used to build the house were made from the clay in the back field of the farm. The timber came from the property. Because the family has lived in the house for so many years she has a good collection of photographs. The first Mrs. Donald Harvie, (Grandmother) was a Women’s Institute member in Orillia and area and helped organize several branches, along with Mrs. William Bacon, Mrs. J. P. Wells and Mrs. Wm. Todd (FWIO and FWIC President). Mrs. Donald Harwe loves history. SOLINA WI - District President. Mrs. Rita Fraser displayed a poster showing visuals relating to the structure of the W.I. from ACWW down to the Branch.
