All home makers today not only do the usual household tasks but are called on to make quick and right decisions that affect the family and the comâ€" munity. The Director offered her congratulations on the seventieth anniversary of the Women's Inâ€" stitute and especially stressed the tremendous job being done in sending leaders to training schools. 4-H Club work is growing. There are 1000 girls more this year. to a grand total of over 13,000 girls’ clubs in the province. Commenting on the new senior training school on “yeast breads", Miss McKercher referred to new revised methods. She urged that Women's Institute members strive for excel- lence. It is the people of excellence who build greatly and their achievements last a long time. One obstacle is natural resistance to change. but we’ve got to be good. enthusiastic salesmen and not knockers. The Director also suggested that we should be helping the Northern Insti- tutes because districts are so big and so farâ€" reaching. There are thirteen changes in home ecoâ€" nomics extension service this year. but with graduates from Macdonald Institute and four from Manitoba. there are no vacancies in the province. Public Relations In her report as Public Relations Officer. Mrs. Clarence Diamond urged all. as individual members, to avail themselves of every oppor- tunity to become better informed members. to know and sell the objectives of the organizaâ€" tion which boasts almost 33000 members in the province in this its seventieth year.
