Erland Lee Home Committee Reports: Mrs. Russell Wise, chairman of the committee, ap- pointed in November 1964 to investigate the possibility of preserving the Erland Lee Home for its historic value, reported that at the re- quest of this committee the Department of Highways has agreed to bypass this home, which will mean that the scenic drive will fol- low directly around the property rather than taking a large portion of it. The committee is awaiting an opportunity to meet with the Hon. W. A. Stewart and the Hon. Mr. James Auld. Board directors voted that the committee be given power to continue exploring the possiâ€" bility of preserving the Erland Lee Home for its historic value. Officers’ Conference Report: Due to the ill- ness of Mrs. Gerald Holder, secretary-treas- urer, a detailed report of the plans for the Officers’ Conference, May 4 and 5, was not given. Mrs. Small reported that 657 Women’s Institute members had registered to attend either as home economics converters, resolu- tion conveners, presidents or District Tweeds- muir History curators. Simcoe Area Subdivision: Mrs. G. R. Lane, Subdivision 13, Simcoe, reported that a new District has been established in Simcoe Area in an effort to bring about a more equitable distribution of Branches. The Institutes are now divided into Subdivision 13 and 13A. A new name will be chosen at the District An- nual, each Branch submitting a name and delegates voting on it. Gree Belt Study: Mrs. L. Trivers comâ€" mented on the emergency resolution passed at the annual board meeting re Green Belt Con- servation and told board directors that to date work has been limited to individual study and the study kit is not yet available. Mrs. Trivers suggested sending a copy of the resolution to the Ontario Water Resources Commission. She suggested reading an informative article on same in the last issue of the Country Guide magazine. Similarly, no report on the prog- ress of agicultural education in secondary schools is available as suggestions were forâ€" warded to Mr. Young but no acknowledgment was received. Junior Report: Mrs. James Coneybeare at- tended the Junior Farmer Association Toronto Conference in January where they had public speaking and musical competitions, etc. At the Junior Farmers’ annual meeting in Guelph, girls from Macdonald Institute presented a fashion show and Mrs. Small addressed the delegates. Mrs. Coneybeare announced that plans for a field day were under way and sum- med up junior activities with, "We are begin- ning to realize the importance of our junior 8 Branches as stepping stones to senior Branches.” Royal Winter Fair: Mrs. Norman Jamieson attended the annual Royal Winter Fair Board meeting and noted an increased income or $17,415. Fifteen thousand dollars was set aside for a centennial program. Safety With People: Mrs, Stanley Mollml reported on the F.W.I.0. project “Safety With People â€"â€"- A Study in Human Relations“. which is to be repeated this year because it it. felt that a study aimed at helping people under stand themselves will lessen tension and Tl.“ duce accidents.
