N INCREASE in membership and two Provincial President’s Address Mrs. James Haggerty, Provincial President, F.W.I.O. welcomed the Board of Directors to the Spring Board Meeting held at the Ontario Agricultural College May 5, 6 and 7, and had a special greeting for new members of the Board attending for the first time. She paid tribute to Mrs. G. Gordon Maynard, Provin- cial Treasurer for her untiring effort in organ- izing the new pr0vincial office, and to Miss Helen McKercher, Director, Home Economics Extension Services, Ontario Department of Agriculture who was responsible for so many services and courtesies in helping to get the office established. Mrs. Haggerty reported she had received letters of appreciation from all five girls receiving Provincial Scholarships. She report- ed attending many committee meetings, in- cluding the Advisory Committee of Macdon- ald Institute, the Continuing Committee of the Conference on Aging, and there found a group of women under the direction of the Ontario Red Cross Society who had set up a course on “Friendly Visiting." This group would like the coâ€"operation of the WI. said Mrs. Hag- gerty. In connection with the resolution pres- ented and passed at the Annual Meeting of the Board last fall on Maternal Care and Infant Mortality, Mrs. Haggerty reported she had met with a representative of the Department of Health and the Medical Association. It has been a busy six months with all sorts of experiences, she said. Many invitations were received to attend anniversaries. banquets and other organizations because of our link with them, and mail to no end. Not a day passes without letters about some unusual situation. The new revision in the Hand Book has created many questions, and Life Memberâ€" ships still present a problem. Mrs. Haggerty also spoke of the very fine office and expres- sed gratitude to the Ontario Department of Agriculture for it. She invited any member who is in Toronto during business hours to visit it.
