Hurondale WI On October 31, 2012, Hurondale WI Members invited guests to attend a ROSE Session with the theme, "Makeâ€"Aâ€"Wish" and "Dealing with Children’s Dreams”. The Branch arranged for Rose Rubin from the Makeâ€"Aâ€"Wish Foundation to give a presentation and show a film. JOB WELL DONE The Southwestern Ontario division of the Makeâ€"Aâ€" Wish Foundation was formed in 1986. They celebrated their 25th Anniversary in 2011, having completed 900 wishes and 100 wishes still in the works. The Mission of the Foundation is to grant the wishes of children with life threatening medical conditions and to enrich the experience with hope, strength and joy. Before the program, dessert was served, along with a social time. Hurondale WI (London Area) made a donation of $170 to the Makeâ€"Aâ€"Wish Foundation. Russell District The Russell Fair opening ceremonies were doubly special in 2012! Russell Village WI Member Diny Achtereekte was selected as the District’s 2012 Woman of Excellence Fair Award winner! Congratulations Diny! Diny felt she had already been celebrated when she received her award at the District Convention, so on FairOpening it was suggested that the two longestâ€"serving Members of each Branch (Russell Village WI and North Russell W!) be the Official Ribbon Cutters and Openers ofthe 2012 Russell Fair! l .t I i” Pictured {LeR} are Wl Members Bep Staal (RVWI 7 53 yrs}, Ethel Hamilton (NRWI v 52 yrs}, Irene Paul (NRWI v 58yrs} and Coby Bols (RVWI 7 53yrs}. Together that is 276years ofdedicated service to the Russell community! Women‘s Institutes were also well represented in the Celebrity Cow Milking Contest at the Russell Fair! First Prize went to the Mayor of Russell Township, Jeanâ€"Pierre St. Pierre; second prize to Susan Dunfield, North Russell WI; third prize to Sheila Minogueâ€"Calver, Navan WI; Ina Henn/ of Russell Village WI also participated.
