FA BRANCHPROFFII_EW ' l In 1911, Burnstown WI (Eastern Area) became the first Branch in Renfrew South District, and they’ve been going strong ever since! Their 26 Members live in the towns of Burnstown, Calabogie, Springtown, Mount St. Patrick, Renfrew, and White Lake, and the Branch just keeps growing. Last year they welcomed 7 new Members! With Members ranging in age from 30 to 90, Burnstown WI thrives on the diversity and unique talents that each woman brings. At every meeting, they make a point of incorporating the talents of new Members, who revitalize the Branch with their fresh ideas. They also work hard to incorporate the principles of the Mary Stewart Collect in everything they do, which is evident through the genuine kindness and respect Members show one another. Historically, Burnstown WI is very proud to have introduced hot lunches at schools in the 19305 and helped a local church hook up to running water. Today, they care for their community by cleaning a stretch of highway twice a year. They make financial contributions to a local school program, the hospital, and Home Support and actively participate in and make items for the Arnprior Fair, the Ottawa Exhibition, and the Renfrew Fair. Burnstown WI is looking forward to celebrating their 100th anniversary in 2011. A committee is currently making plans for the upcoming celebration, while several Members meet weekly to work on a commemorative quilt. Congratulations and best wishes, Burnstown WI!
