Hastings District Hastings East, North and West Districts recently amalgamated to form the new District of Hastings (Trent Valley Area). It didn‘t take long for them to become involved! This fall, the schools of Hastings & Prince Edward counties sent their grade four students over a two day period to "Agribition" at the Hastings County Museum of Agriculture Heritage. The cooking, wrapping and serving of over 1,000 hamburgers to feed these hungry - students, was the first venture of this newly formed Hastings District. The ladies meet at the River Valley WI Community Centre and used their newly renovated facilities to accomplish this feat. Marburg WI Helen Young of Marburg WI (Hamilton Area) thoughtthat WI Members might be wondering how she used 10 of the balls of yarn she won in theTeddy Bear Competition at the Provincial Conferencethis pastJune. As you can see, Helen made the beautiful sweaterthat she is wearing. The knitting pattern came with her 1/2 bushel of bamboo yarn, so now she hasjust 30 balls left to use! Happy knitting, Helen! Thornton WI Thornton WI (Simcoe Area) had a special evening to celebrate some vew important Members of their Branch. Pictured (Lâ€"R) are Marguerite McCabe, who celebrated her 60 years as a W! Member, Lena Stephensen, and Meril Cunningham, who have both been WI Members for 50 years. Congratulations and thank you for your service and dedication to WI! Grey Districts The 104th Grey County Women’s Institute Rally was held at Lamlash in August. The theme for the day was "Let’s Have Fun" and that is exactly what they did with jokes, poems, and skits, all to make you laugh. Three "Agnes MacPhail Awards” were given out by Meriâ€" Diana Carroll, Ist Vice President ofthe Rally, in recognition of worthy service for Home and Country. Recipients were Viola Clark, Sheila Carmichael, and May McLean. A certificate was also presented to Hilary Breadner for her success in winning the Women’s Institute Western Region Hoodlessâ€"Lee Scholarship. ' “ME/(1 film“
