Northumberland East District Branches Participate in Brighton Heritage Weekend Three Branches from Northumberland East District â€" Codrington, Community and York Road WI’s â€" took part in the 2nd Brighton Heritage Weekend this past February at the King Edward Arena in Brighton, Ontario. The event coordinator was Dot Connolly from the Brighton Heritage Society. Members worked together to set up tables and provide food for the luncheon. Approximately $700 was raised from the luncheon and shared among the 3 Branches. On display were beautiful quilts â€" some over 100 years old and some present day masterpieces. Each Branch set up its own promotional table and Members enjoyed chatting with the many visitors who stopped by to see the displays of heritage pictures, tools and projects underway in the area. Local historian, Dan Buchanan, spoke about Dr. Billy King who was Pictured(LvR):$har0n RUSHCommunity hanged in 1859 for the murder of his wife. He was buried on his family’s farm in WI)’ D0! Walton WI Celebrates on WI Day Walton WI (Huron Perth District, Guelph Area) celebrated the 117th Anniversary of WI on February 19th at our regular meeting held at the home of our Secretary/Treasurer, Helen Craig. We explored both the FWIO website and the FWIO Facebook group. Congratulations to the masterminds behind these two tools that get current information to the grass root members in a speedy manner!
