The Diamond Jubilee was a multinational celebration that encompassed the entire year. Many events were held throughout the year in the United Kingdom as well as the countries ofthe Commonwealth to paytribute and to honour the Queen and her years of service and devotion. Forthe Members of Roslin WI (Trent Valley Area), this was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their Queen, Edith Bailey. Edith has been a wellâ€"loved and respected Pictured: Edith Bailey member of the community for over 60 years. It was in this small hamlet that Edith raised her 4 children while working at the Corby Distillery. She also had a love of baking, which she later turned into a cottage industry of creating beautiful wedding and birthday cakes. Edith is also a talented and gifted artist and card maker. She delighted in spending time in her lovely gardens and was always willing to welcome a new neighbour to the village with an amazing bouquet of flowers. If you needed advice or a recipe, she was a wealth of information. Edith has been an active member of her church and joined Women’s Institute in 1963. During that time, she has held the positions of Convenor of Home Economics and Health and Resolutions Convenor. She has been a dedicated WI Member and is a warm, caring person, always there for others, living a balanced and happy life of friends, community and family. In the fall of 2012, Roslin WI was thrilled to honour their dear Edith with a Jubilee Tea at the United Church in Roslin. It was well attended by area women, many in beautiful hats. Finger sandwiches and dainty desserts were served. Edith Bailey was presented with her Life Membership certificate and badge. Itwas a wonderful afternoon for all who attended and a true pleasure to spend time with this special woman and to pay thanks to herfor all of her work in the WI organization.
