On February 22, 201 2, Members of Elgin District WI (London Area) gathered at the Dunwich Hall in Wallacetown for the annual Winter Picnic honouring the founding ofWomen’s Institute. Wallacetown WI and Shedden WI hosted this ROSE Session with a Heart Health theme. The Women’s Institute was founded on February 19, 1897 in Stoney Creek, Ontario. Commemorating the 1 15th Anniversary are (LeR) Mrs. E. D. Smith, President of the first Women’s Institute Branch (Joan Jackaman); Mrs. Janet Lee, wife of Erland Lee, spokesperson of the Farmer’s Institute and coefounder ofthe organization (Joanne Erickson); and Adelaide Hoodless, the inspiration forWomen’s Institute (Joan Mansell).
